Micah Woods

Micah Woods is from Thailand, where he owns Asian Turfgrass Center. He has been with the Amplify Network for 15 years and has found his strengths to be in turfgrass nutrient requirements, soil test interpretations, and fertilizer recommendations for turfgrass.

Micah was a golf course superintendent in China and Japan, where he developed a strong interest in maintaining healthy grass through the precise application of the correct fertilizers. Although he initially knew little about the subject, he became fascinated by turfgrass nutrition. He was fortunate to study this topic in graduate school, earning a Ph.D. with the dissertation titled “Nonacid cation bioavailability in sand rootzones,” which focuses on nutrient availability to grass in sandy soils. Micah has worked with clients in various countries to apply his knowledge to fertilizer recommendations and collaborated with Larry Stowell and Wendy Gelernter to develop the MLSN guidelines, now successfully used by turfgrass managers worldwide.

He lives with his family in a small town in southern Thailand, where much of the land is planted with rubber trees, oil palm, tropical fruits, and rice. The area is known for its vibrant food culture, described in a travel article highlighting the local passion for breakfast. Micah shares insights about his activities, developments in the snack food aisle, and progress in his golf game at www.micahwoods.com.
