Larry Stowell

Larry Stowell is the managing director of PACE Turf, an independent consulting organization he founded in 1986. Alongside his wife, Dr. Wendy Gelernter, Larry has built PACE Turf into a respected provider of research, education, and information services to the turfgrass industry.

Larry Stowell was trained at the University of Arizona, where he received a B.S. (1977) and Ph.D. in plant pathology (1982). He furthered his expertise at the University of California, Davis, where he conducted post-doctoral plant pathology research until 1984. Throughout his career, Larry has worked on various crops, including turfgrasses, cotton, processing tomatoes, lettuce, dry beans, and soybeans. He has coauthored patents and numerous articles, including four book chapters. His current interests focus on the development of precision turfgrass management systems and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for turf. Larry, along with his wife, Dr. Wendy Gelernter, manages PACE Turf, providing online access to a wide range of turf-related research, education, and weather models for turfgrass management professionals.
