Jim is also knowledgeable in manure management and utilization, having written several hundred Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs), Nutrient Management Plans (NMPs), and Pest Management Plans (PMPs) as a Technical Service Provider (TSP) for the NRCS EQIP program. Additionally, he has conducted semi-annual groundwater sampling and methane monitoring at a municipal landfill for 30 years.

Jim holds a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry and is a certified crop advisor. He has also served as an auditor for the Ohio and Indiana 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification programs for several years. His contributions to the industry include serving on the Indiana Certified Crop Adviser board and being a past president of the Indiana Association of Professional Crop Consultants.
